Visual Design in Practice: Illustration & Iconography

Before specializing in UX/UI, I worked as a digital designer and illustrator, collaborating with a variety of companies to create impactful visual assets, from marketing illustrations and branded content to custom iconography for digital products. This case study showcases selected projects where I translated abstract ideas into expressive visuals, balancing creativity with clarity.

ASSA ABLOY

Illustration Style Exploration

While working as a UX designer at Assa Abloy, I was invited to explore a new illustration style to help modernize the brand’s visual language. Leveraging my background in illustration and iconography, I proposed a direction rooted in expressive line work and human-centered storytelling.

The goal was to create a style that communicates innovation, trust, and openness, while aligning with the brand’s shift toward a more progressive, people-first identity.

I approached the work with a clear visual strategy and structured process (which I’d be happy to walk through in a meeting).

Designing & Maintaining an Icon Library

As part of the design system team at ASSA ABLOY, I was responsible for creating and maintaining the feature icon library used across global products. My role included managing icon requests from various divisions, prioritizing needs, and designing scalable, consistent icons that aligned with the brand’s visual standards. Over the course of the project, I created 60+ feature icons, ensuring scalability, accessibility, and alignment with the system’s visual language.

UI Illustrations & Icons

SalamCrypto as an international trading platform has made it possible for users around the world to buy and sell digital currencies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, Tron, etc. I was tasked to design illustrations for their website landing and price monitoring page. Additio nally, I illustrated 3 icons to showcase concepts of "24/7 support", "Safe and Secure" and "Fast" to be used in their website.

Utravs

Product Illustrations & Icons

Utravs is a website and application in the tourism industry that offers online booking for flights and hotels across Iran and around the world. As an illustrator and graphic designer, one of my main duties was to produce illustrations and icons for their website and application. You can see some examples of my illustrations below.

Rooha Travel

Illustrated Stamp Series

For this project, I was asked to illustrate different stamps for different cities in iran, as part of a tourism promotion project for a tre agency. For each city, I chose one of its famous landmarks and designed these vector illustrations inspired by them. These mom ments are Azadi Tower in Tehran, Persepolis in shiraz, windbreaks in Yazd, and the Mausoleum of Baba Taher in Hamadan.
